Instagram and iPhoneography
Instagram a simple and free photo-taking and photo-sharing app for the iPhone. One of it’s distinctive features is that it formats photos into a square shape, in a nod to both the Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid cameras. Having an iPhone has equipped us with a camera at all times and being able to edit and share photos instantly worldwide has changed the face of photography.
I’ve long been a photographer and artist, but after joining Instagram in November of 2010 it sparked a new joy and drive to push the photography medium further. The great community on Instagram of so many incredible photographers from all over the world has both inspired and encouraged me. I’ve also made connections with fellow artists and photographers in my own city, St. Louis, MO because of Instagram.
