Tire Factory
In October of 2011 I was invited to photograph an abandoned tire factory by artist Peat “EYEZ” Wollaeger. I met and got to know Peat through Instagram. I had been photographing various street art around St. Louis and we were having lots of conversations back and forth about different pieces.
Peat was approached by the City Academy to paint the tire factory for a fundraising event before it was torn down for a planned expansion of the City Academy.
It was a truly great experience to photograph the tire factory before it was demolished. I was able to stop by on 3 separate occasions and see the progress of the work that Peat and other street artist such as Ender and Tron were doing. The tire factory was an amazing building with lots of decaying beauty and it’s disappointing that it is now gone, the building was in great condition and would have made a great and unique art space.
